Hello, you! My name is Vida Carson and I’m a lover of: God, my family, black and white photographs, laughing until it hurts, lazy Sunday mornings, driving with the music up and windows down, good times with good friends, meeting new people, learning new things, sitting in coffee shops, getting lost in new places, new books, long long road trips with my best friend and of course – photography!

I am a young photographer based in Philadelphia, PA specializing in wedding, portrait and lifestyle photography. As an on location, natural light photographer I don’t have a studio. Instead, I come to you! We can go to your favorite park, somewhere in the city or even to the beach! But the best part about it is that I will never make you sit in an uncomfortable position and command you to “smile for the camera”. I want to get to know you and have fun while doing it! So let’s grab a cup of coffee, hang out in the city and share a few laughs. I want to capture the real you, whatever that means. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I would absolutely love to help you write your story :)

I’ve been severely neglecting my blog and I wish I had a good reason.. but I don’t. If you really want to stay up to date with my current sessions and musings – be sure to add me on Facebook! I update there a lot more often then here so check it out! So here’s one of many sessions that will eventually be blogged. I met up with Heather over a month ago, before the weather got ridiculous, and we made some awesome images. Here are few, full blog post to come soon. Promise.

I’ve been thinking a lot of about the types of people that are always in the spotlight and what they look like.. and how they look different than the majority of women in America. I don’t want to start a debate or promote obesity, but I DO want girls to know that if you’re a size 12 – you’re beautiful. Oh, you’re a size 16? You’re beautiful too. And you deserve for someone to take your photo and show you just how beautiful you are. That’s where Plus You comes in, a new photo project that I’m starting with Melanie Paul. We’ve just started this journey but check out our little mission statement just to see what we have to say and then check out a few images from out first photo shoot:

Founded by Vida Carson and Melanie Paul, PlusYou aims to serve as a foundation for girls who do not “fit the mold” according to the standards of beauty in today’s youth. Here at PlusYou, we hold the firm belief that beauty comes in all shapes and so why does modeling have height and weight restrictions? That’s where the YOU in PlusYou comes in. So, short and voluptuous women, we are looking for you! If you are sexy, fun, confident, and sassy and are interested in helping us redefine beauty, we want you on our team!
